3 Separate Crashes Cause Serious Delays On Route 78 In Lehigh Valley, State Police Say Three separate crashes were causing serious delays on Route 78 in the Lehigh Valley, state police said. While the specific locations of the crashes were not immediately clear, they all occurred in Northampton County on the morning of Monday, August 1, PSP Trooper Nathan Branosky said. Nor'easter: Here's How Many Crashes CT State Police Responded To During Storm, Other Stats Connecticut State Police announced the number of crashes troopers responded to during the weekend's Nor'easter.  State Police said on Saturday, Jan. 29, between midnight and 11:59 p.m., troopers responded to about 1,212 calls for service. Authorities said 90 of the calls were for motor vehicle crashes. Police said 84 of those crashes were classified as "no injury," and six involved injuries. Here's How Many Crashes Have Been Reported On CT Roadways During July 4th Holiday Over the two-day Fourth of July time period so far, Connecticut State Police say troopers have responded to a total of 79 motor vehicle crashes, with one serious injury. Since the holiday enforcement got underway on Wednesday, July 3, at 7 p.m., state police responded to 2,642 calls for service, including the 79 for crashes, which, fortunately, none resulted in fatalities. Other stops included helping 112 disabled motor vehicles 23 arrests for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The State of Connecticut added new laws to the books this year, the Greenwich Police Department noted in an alert issued on Halloween. Now, when motorists are following too closely and it results in a crash, they will be fined $245. That fine goes up to $395 if it happens in a construction zone.
