Cuomo Doubles Down, Saying He Won't Quit Despite New Calls To Resign From Influential Democrats
Saying "what's being alleged simply did not happen," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that despite growing calls to step down amid a flurry of sexual harassment allegations, he will not resign.
"I never harassed anyone, I have never abused anyone, I have never assaulted anyone, and I never would," Cuomo said in a conference call with reporters early Friday afternoon, March 12.
Earlier in the day, more high-profile Democrats called for him to resign, including members of New York's Congressional delegation. The National Organization for Women also said he should resign.

Mondaire Jones Holds Big Lead In Race To Take Over Nita Lowey's Congressional Seat
Early voting results are in, and Mondaire Jones has taken a commanding lead to take over longtime Congresswoman Nita Lowey's seat in the 17th District.
New York’s 17th District includes most of Westchester, and all of Rockland County.
Lowey, who announced last year that she would be stepping down, was elected to Congress in 1989.
As of Wednesday, June 24, Jones had picked up 13,625 votes (44 percent), according to the Board of Elections.
No other candidate has garnered more than 20 percent of the vote:
Adam Schleifer: 6,253 (20 percent);
Sen. David Carlucci: 3,958 (13 percent);

Buchwald Bid For Lowey's Congressional Seat Sets Up State Assembly Race
State Assemblyman David Buchwald became the second Democrat to announce his candidacy for the 17th Congressional District this week, a seat that will open up after next year's retirement of U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey.
Buchwald's run for Congress sets up an open race for his 93rd Assembly District seat next year.
Buchwald, 40, is in his fourth two-year term representing the 93rd District, which includes the towns of Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and the City of White Plains.
