Police in Newark are looking for the man who they say took a cash register from a laundromat on Saturday, March 9. The man was a customer at Avon Laundromat on the 100 block of Avon Avenue when he complained to employees that his clothing had been stolen from a dryer around 12:30 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. The customer demanded compensation, but was refused, Fragé said. In response, the suspect went behind the shop's counter and took the cash register, which contained $400, Fragé said. An 88-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing the Pulaski Highway Thursday evening, March 7, police said. John Lohmeyer was attempting to cross near the 8200 block in Rosedale when he was struck by a 2019 Jeep Cherokee around 7:30 p.m., Baltimore County Police said.
