Three firefighters were injured battling a blaze at a Long Island home. The fire broke out in Woodmere around 4:15 p.m., Monday, July 25.at an unoccupied residence located at 227 Mosher Ave. Upon arrival, responders discovered the home engulfed in flames, Nassau County Police said. The Woodmere Fire Department was joined in battling the blaze by the Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Hewlett, Inwood, and Valley Stream fire departments, who were able to extinguish the fire, police said. Fire crews made quick work of a blaze that broke out in the basement of a Sussex County home Thursday evening. The fire was reported at 160 Mountain Rd. in Hardyston around 4:40 p.m., the local volunteer fire department said. A Connecticut man was arrested after police helping firefighters responding to a house fire allegedly found a large hallucinogenic "mushroom" grow room. The incident took place on Monday, March 29, when the East Hartford Fire Department responded to 449 Burnside Avenue for an active kitchen fire, said East Hartford Police Lt. Joshua Litwin. A family has been temporarily displaced after a house fire in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out around 10 a.m. Sunday, March 28 on Live Oak Road in Norwalk. A neighbor had called 911, saying that there had been a propane tank explosion and that the house was on fire, Norwalk FD Deputy Chief Edward Prescott said. Mahwah firefighters were helping their colleagues from Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Tallan douse a brush fire in a remote wooded area of Rockland on Sunday when a house fire broke out nearby in town. The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was quickly knocked down, although it did cause some damage. UPDATE: No one was injured in an Easter Sunday fire that severely damaged a Little Ferry home. The two-alarm blaze broke out around 11 a.m. outside and extended up the side and through the attic of the 2½-story wood-frame Mariani Drive home, responders said. Little Ferry firefighters were joined by their colleagues from Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Moonachie and South Hackensack. They had the fire knocked in 20 or so minutes.
