Two Long Island lawyers are being sued by the New York Attorney General’s Office for allegedly stealing more than $1 million in funds earmarked for charity by a dead client. Long Island fire departments are warning the public about a scam from a donation mailer they have no affiliation with. The South Farmingdale Fire Department said on Facebook the letter from the Volunteer Firefighter Alliance Charity recently went out to residents in Nassau County. A 33-year-old police dispatcher from the Jersey Shore has admitted stealing $4,690 from Lanoka Harbor Emergency Medical Services, authorities said.
