Water Rescue: Clammer Spends Hours Stuck In Ice In Shirley A 73-year-old clammer had to be rescued after spending hours trapped in ice on Long Island. The incident happened Tuesday, Jan. 23 in Narrow Bay in Shirley, near Smith Point Bridge. Suffolk County Police said someone called 911 at around 2:30 p.m. for a boat that was stuck in the ice. Officers from the agency’s Marine Bureau located the vessel and used their own boat to break up the ice and tow the man to safety. The incident took place in Greenwich near Great Captain Island, on Long Island Sound on Saturday, Aug. 19, when the vessel ran into trouble. Lt. Seven Rescued On Long Island After Boat Begins Taking On Water Seven people aboard a boat that was taking on water were rescued by police on Long Island. The rescue took place around 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, in Oyster Bay. According to police, the Nassau County Marine Bureau received a call for a vessel taking on water while being towed.  It was determined the boat was taking on water due to the turbulent sea conditions.  Marine 11 was dispatched and safely transferred all seven persons aboard.  They were transported to a local marina.  No injuries were reported.

The incident took place in Westport during the evening of Tuesday, June 29, when Westport Police receive word of the emergency. Westport Marine officers responded to the scene, but upon arrival found the boat's occupants had been assisted by a passing boat. The officers took over the scene and helped retrieve the boat, which was sinking. No injuries were reported.
