The basement on Ramapo Mountain Drive was fully involved when firefighters arrived shortly before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, they said. Frozen hydrants left the first two engines just about tapped, with the blaze extending to the first floor, when mutual aid came through, responders said. That included firefighters from Pompton Lakes, Ringwood and Bloomingdale. A Passaic County hazardous materials unit also was requested.

Six Birds Evacuated In Two-Alarm Blaze: Linden Police Nobody was injured after a two-alarm fire began in the basement of a home in Linden on Monday, Oct. 30, police said. Firefighters and police responded to the 500 block of Maple Avenue on reports of a structure fire and discovered the basement blaze in a multi-family home, police said. Two occupants and several pets, including six birds, were safely evacuated, police said. Multiple roadways in the area remain closed and residents are encouraged to avoid the area, police said.

At Least One Injured In Early Morning Rockville Basement Fire At least one person is injured following an early morning basement fire in Rockville, authorities say. Firefighters arrived to the home in the 11700 block of Rocking Horse Road after reports of a fire in a single family home, around 6 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue. Authorities were able to extinguish the flames, that evacuated one man and one woman who were inside of the home. The man was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
