Coast Guard Searches For Missing Boater, Pair Rescued By Point Pleasant Police (

One boater remained missing and two others were rescued after a boat capsized in the rough waters of Manasquan Inlet, authorities said. The U.S. Coast Guard was using a helicopter out of Atlantic City and a C-130 cargo plane out of North Carolina to assist in the search off of Point Pleasant, the Coast Guard said on Friday, Sept. 15. A 47-foot motor lifeboat from Manasquan Inlet also was searching the waters. Shooter In Murder-Suicide Was Retired Atlantic City Police Officer
The man who shot and killed his ex-girlfriend before killing himself was a retired Atlantic City police officer, authorities confirmed. William Beattie, 47, retired from the police force on Feb. 1, 2010, according to public records. Police were called to Ogden Road in Deptford at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28.
