Two Hospitalized After Route 15 Crash: Njsp Two people were hospitalized following a crash on Route 15 in Sussex County on the evening of Wednesday, July 3, state police said. At 11:55 p.m., a MW passenger vehicle was traveling southbound in Lafayette Township when it veered off the roadway, struck a pedestrian, sign and a tree, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The pedestrian, a 43-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, Lebron said. Winner! Powerball Ticket Sold In Essex County Nets Big Bucks A Powerball player in Essex County rang in the 4th with some extra money in their bank account. A ticket sold in South Orange matched four numbers plus the red Powerball in the drawing held on Wednesday, July 3, winning $50,000. The ticket was sold at Village Smoke Shop. The winning numbers were 2, 26, 33, 55, 57 and the red Powerball was 22.

Burglar Arrested After Foot Pursuit In North Jersey Town, Police Say A 29-year-old Rockaway resident was arrested for burglary following a foot pursuit in Fairfield on Tuesday, July 2, authorities said. At 9:35 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle burglary at a business on Daniel Road East, Fairfield police said in a release. Police noticed Matthew Logan, who matched the description of the suspect, in the parking lot of the PNC Bank on Little Falls Road, officers said. Two-Alarm Fire Closes Morris County Burger King: Authorities Firefighters battled a whopper of a fire at a Burger King in Morris County on Tuesday, July 2, authorities said. At 5:15 p.m., firefighters in Madison received multiple 911 calls about a fire at the Burger King on 317 Main St., with flames visible from the roof, the borough said in a release. Firefighters and EMS responded within minutes, transmitting a second alarm, requesting additional units to fight the blaze, authorities said. Teenager Fatally Shot In Irvington: Prosecutor A 17-year-old was fatally shot in Irvington on the early morning of Wednesday, July 3, authorities said. At 1:26 a.m., police responded to a shooting on the 1100 block of Grove Street and found the teenage boy suffering from gunshot wounds, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Irvington Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers said. Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors A man was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Tuesday, July 2, authorities said. At 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue and found an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Horse Farm Stabbing Suspect Wanted For Attempted Murder Out Of Warren County, Police Say Police in Blairstown are looking for a man wanted for a stabbing on Tuesday, June 2, authorities said. The suspect stabbed another man on Meadow Cliff Lane on a horse farm in Hardwick Township, Blairstown police said. The man is Hispanic, 5'1" and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a dragon on it and blue jeans, police said. SWAT Standoff Ends In Arrest Of 79-Year-Old Man In Union County, Police Say A 79-year-old armed man, who barricaded himself inside a Clark home, was apprehended by police on the early morning of Wednesday, July 2, authorities said. At 12:31 a.m., officers responded to 9 Stanton St. on a report of shots fired, Clark police said in a release. An investigation revealed Kenneth Kutyla had barricaded himself with a weapon inside, police said. Union County Special Weapons and Tactics responded to the scene, followed by Union County SWAT, police said. The SWAT team was able to apprehend Kutyla, police said. Charges are pending against Kutyla, police said.

Newark Man Admits To Carjacking, Armed Robbery Spree: Feds A 28-year-old Essex County man admitted to committing a spree of robberies and a carjacking in federal court on Thursday, June 27, authorities said. In Dec. 2021, Deion Nance carjacked a person at gunpoint, taking their 2016 Toyota Corolla, by pointing a gun at their face, pulling the victim out of their vehicle and driving away, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said.
