22-Year-Old Newark Woman Killed In Route 280 Crash In Harrison A 22-year-old Newark driver was killed in a crash on Route 280 in Harrison early Saturday morning, July 27, New Jersey State Police said. According to NJSP Sgt. Charles Marchan, Kaylee Mendez was heading east when she ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail around 1:25 a.m. She was ejected from the vehicle and killed. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

Craig Herbert followed the victim into a restroom at the Hackensack Avenue and Route 4 shopping center and shoved her to the floor, where he tried sexually assaulting her on Friday, July 26, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. The woman was able to fight off Herbert before calling 9-1-1, Musella said.
