Flooding Closes These Major Roadways In Morris County; Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued
Highways and major roadways across New Jersey were closed Sunday evening, Aug. 18 due to flooding and a series of crashes, making for a stress-inducing commute.
The National Weather Service warned of a line of storms with potential to produce gusty winds and heavy rain was working eastward toward parts of North Jersey. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for all 21 counties through 2 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.

Maplewood Man Assaults Officer After Attack At Local Home, Police Say
A 32-year-old man was jailed on assault charges after an incident in Maplewood last week, police said.
Steven Hemmings, a local resident, is accused of attacking someone at a Florida Street home, and then attacking an officer, on Monday, Aug. 12, Maplewood according to police and charges filed against him.
He was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on an officer, and a weapons offense.
Hemmings was subsequently lodged in the Essex County Jail.
Police ID Three 20-Somethings Killed In High-Speed South Jersey BMW Crash
Three people in their 20s were killed in a South Jersey crash early Saturday, Aug. 17, police said.
A 2006 BMW operated by Ian P. Rodriguez, of Millville, was heading west on Mayslanding Road at a high rate of speed when it suddenly left the roadway to the right on the approach of Panther Road around 8:25 a.m., Vineland Sgt. N. Dounoulis said.
The vehicle struck a utility pole, lost control, and overturned while striking an irrigation winch located on the farm field on the northwest corner of the intersection, Dounoulis said.
