West Point Cadet Confirmed Killed In Fort Hood Flooding WEST POINT, N.Y. – Officials confirmed that a West Point cadet was among the nine killed when flooding hit Fort Hood in Texas last week, according to multiple reports. The cadet was 21-year old Mitchell Alexander Winey from Indiana, News 12 said. Winey was attending Fort Hood for cadet troop leader training when floodwaters swept away the vehicle he was in, reported News 12. Read the News 12 article here.

Elmsford School District Honors Teachers Of The Year ELMSFORD, N.Y. – Three teachers were honored by the Elmsford school district with Teacher of the Year awards at the June 1 Board of Education meeting. The three honorees are Grady School fifth-grade teacher Patricia Byrne, Dixson Primary School first-grade teacher Fabiola Diaz and Hamilton High School science teacher Richard MacLeish. Robert F. Perry, 88, Of Peekskill PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Robert F. Perry, a lifelong resident of Peekskill, died on Saturday, May 28. He was 88. Perry was born on Sept. 16, 1927, to Charles and Alice (Segnit) Perry. He served in the Army for two years. He retired as an automotive machinist at Peterson Auto Parts in Peekskill. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Mamber), two sons, Robert and Donald, daughter Carol Strang, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private.
