DARIEN, Conn. – The summer may be winding to a close, but the Darien Nature Center is preparing to heat things up during the fourth annual Chili Challenge. The event, scheduled for 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, is to feature a chili tasting and competition with entries from 10 local restaurants and the town’s three firehouses. Former Greenwich Woman Pleads Guilty To Fraud After Stealing $700K
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A Pennsylvania woman who formerly lived in Greenwich pleaded guilty Friday to stealing more than $700,000 from a private real estate management and development company, its employees and their families, according to federal officials. Debra Biagi, 50, of Fogelsville, Pa., waived her right to indictment and pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on Friday to one count of wire fraud, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut Deirdre M. STAMFORD, Conn. — Violence that authorities have attributed to drug and turf wars across different parts of Stamford resulted in another shooting early Friday, the 25th such incident since early March, according to the Stamford Advocate. NYS Thruway Lanes, On-Ramp To Close For Drainage Work
The Exit 9 on-ramp to Northbound Interstate-87 will be closed overnight on Thursday and Friday to allow maintenance crews to complete drainage work for the New NY Bridge project, according to the New York State Thruway Authority.The first night of work, which began at 8 p.m. Thursday, was expected to last until 5 a.m. Friday, according to the Thruway Authority. Ramapo Police Urge Caution As Schools Set To Open
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- As schools prepare to open for the start of classes this fall, Ramapo police are reminding drivers to be careful on the roads and watch for children.Noting that the department considers security at schools a priority, Ramapo police said in a recent statement that its officers have performed more than 1,300 school security checks and nearly 500 school bus safety checks in 2016.
