A staff member at a Dutchess County high school has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of inappropriate conduct, school district and law enforcement officials confirmed.
In a letter sent to families on Thursday, May 15, Arlington Central School District Superintendent Philip Benante acknowledged the serious nature of the report and said the district, which includes large parts of the towns of LaGrange, Pleasant Valley, Beekman, Poughkeepsie, and Union Vale, acted swiftly after learning of the allegations.

A 27-year-old woman is facing felony drug charges after being pulled over in Dutchess County, police said.
The arrest happened on Sunday, March 30, when a trooper stopped a 2024 Toyota traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange for multiple traffic violations, New York State Police announced on Tuesday, April 1.
The driver, Angelica M. Vivo, age 27, of the Bronx, was found with around 9.2 grams of cocaine during the stop, according to police.

A popular lifelong Hudson Valley former fire chief and catering business owner known for his love of cooking has died at the age of 70.
Ulster County resident Michael B. Hackett, of Highland, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15. He was born on Sunday, June 7, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Francis and the late Rita (McGrath) Hackett, according to his obituary.

Hudson Valley Woman Busted With Drugs, Driving While High Following One-Car Crash, Police Say
A Hudson Valley woman was nabbed for alleged cocaine possession following a single-vehicle crash.
The incident took place in Dutchess County in LaGrange on Wednesday, Oct. 11, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.
According to Hicks, troopers responded to a rollover crash around 12:45 a.m. on the Taconic State Parkway near mile marker No. 48.
During the investigation, the driver, Katherine Griffin, age 55, of East Fishkill, was located in an intoxicated condition and in possession of approximately 5.8 grams of cocaine, and 3.4 grams of crack cocaine, Hicks said.

Law enforcement officials are asking the public for help locating two Hudson Valley boys who were allegedly abducted by their non-custodial mother and father.
Dutchess County residents Kevin Qualters, age 11, and his 8-year-old brother Aiden who has autism and is non-verbal, were abducted from LaGrange on Thursday, Dec. 8, the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services said in an alert. Aiden has autism and is non-verbal, said authorities.

A Hudson Valley man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing more than $165,000 from investors while working for an investment company.
Dutchess County resident Todd Sims, age 49, of LaGrange, was arrested on Tuesday, March 29, by New York State Police in collaboration with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
An investigation determined Sims stole more than $165,000 using an investment company business under the name of Horizon Holdings NY, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
