Oily Rags Sparked 3-Alarm Newton House Fire: Investigators Investigators believe the blaze that torched an unoccupied home in Newton on Wednesday, April 24, began when a container of oily rags burst into flames.  Newtown firefighters were called to the 8 Central Ave. home at 11:30 a.m. after neighbors spotted smoking coming from the 2-and-a-half-story wood-framed home, the State Fire Marshal's Office said. Western Mass Man Drove Child Across State Lines For Sex: Feds A 50-year-old Berkshire County man is accused of driving a minor to have sex, authorities said.  Paul Newton-Irelan is charged with transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said.  Newton-Irelan allegedly drove the minor to New York and Massachusetts on Nov. 26, 2023, as part of a scheme for sex, authorities said. Man Hit With Stray Bullet On I-93 In Braintree As Road Rage Incident Intensifies A stray bullet hit a man in the leg as he drove through Braintree Wednesday afternoon, April 24, when a road rage incident turned violent, police said. Although, he was not involved in the altercation.  The shooting happened just before 3 p.m. on I-93.
