A 2% drop does not seem significant. If a student is not purchasing the lunches at school because he or she does not like what is being offered and instead brings lunch from home or elsewhere, isn't that his or her choice (or for a younger child, the choice of the parent)? I'm not sure I see what the problem is. I think the school system needs to be a little cautious about pushing only fruit or vegetables. Protein keeps you full longer and some children, particularly athletes, have higher protein or carbohydrate needs. If my healthy child complained the school lunches were not filling and they were hungry, wouldn't I be making the correct decision as parent to provide him or her with an alternative? View Comment
What does how long you've lived in town have ANYTHING to do about how one would feel about rescheduling trick or treating due to a massive storm? Please remove the large chip off your shoulder. Us "newbies" pay taxes, patronize local businesses, and contribute to the community. This "newbie vs. true Grafton citizens" narrative is boring, petty and divisive. View Comment
Given previous reporting on the age of the building and other needed repairs, this is not surprising but it is extremely disappointing. What does it say about our town that a civic space dedicated to children and learning is rife with mold that could harm the children who use it? As a mom of an asthmatic son, I would be nuts to bring my kid in there. Based on all the back and forth in this town about the library and all the snark and vitriol that has gone along with it, I guess you reap what you sow. No decent, accessible library for kids in any building, old or new, is what we are left with. View Comment
