Millbury's Piscatelli Shines At Shot Put For URI Track

MILLBURY, Mass. — Andrew Piscitelli, a senior at the University of Rhode Island from Millbury, won the shot put event as the Rams ran away with the victory at the Sorlien Invitational Meet on Saturday.

Piscitelli, a mechanical engineering major, had a winning throw of 16.18 meters, or 53 feet, 1 inch, as Rhode Island put on an impressive show and finished first at the meet with 239 points.

Piscatelli’s results were New England and ECAC qualifying marks. He still owns the Millbury High School record for the shot put at 54 feet, 7 inches and the discus at 166 feet, 7 inches. He served as captain of the track team at Millbury High. He finished runner-up in the state in the discus throw and was named All SWCL, a District E Champ and all-class runner-up.
