Millbury's Girls Basketball Blasts Leicester, 48-17

MILLBURY, Mass. — The Millbury High girls basketball team got off to a great start for the new season by blasting Leicester, 48-17, on Monday night in Millbury.

The Lady Woolies, led by Molly McCausland and Payton Breugger, jumped out to a huge 27-5 lead at the end of the first half. They went on cruise control for the rest of the way, emptying the bench in the second half to give everyone some playing time.

McCausland pumped in 14 points, including two three-pointers from the field. Bruegger was unstoppable under the boards and scored six points. Breanna Winberg hit for nine points for the Woolies.

Rachel Meyers led all Lady Wolverine scorers with seven points. Millbury plays next at Shepherd Hill on Thursday at 7 p.m. Leicester travels to Uxbridge on Thursday, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
