MILLBURY, Mass. — The Millbury girls basketball team dropped its final regular season game to Notre Dame of Worcester, 44-38, as the Rebels scored 20 points in the final quarter to win.
The Woolies were without standout center Payton Bruegger for the second game in a row. They led after the first quarter, 9-7, but the teams went into half-time tied at 17. Millbury took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, but then Notre Dame went on a scoring binge to distance itself from Millbury.
Molly Terry scored all seven of her points in the pivotal final frame, including a big three-point shot. Victoria Talentino led the Rebels with 11 points, while Madison Snow added nine.
The Woolies were led by Breanna Winberg, who scored a game-high 13 points. Rebecca Thornburg added nine, and Molly McCausland and Jackie Pariseau each chipped in for five points for Millbury.
The Woolies will have to wait to find out where and when they’ll play in the state tournament. After the final results are tallied, the MIAA will post the seedings and announced the match-ups.
