Millbury Boys' Hoops Loses Finale To Uxbridge, 72-54

MILLBURY, Mass. — The Millbury boys' basketball team closed out a tough season with another tough loss, this one to the Uxbridge Spartans, 72-54, Thursday night in Uxbridge. Millbury will not be going on into the district playoffs this season.

The Spartans (13-6) jumped out to a big 22-9 lead after the first quarter, riding a big performance by Jared Mausfield, who scored 12 of his 20 points in the first frame to get Uxbridge out to a big lead.

The Woolies (2-17) were led by Nick Guaragno who scored 15 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, as well as seniors Michael Woll and Guy Vigneau, who scored 14 and nine points, respectively

Uxbridge’s Kenneth Paulhus Jr. led all scorers with 22 points, including 12 fourth-quarter points. Paulhus nailed three three-point shots and hit three of four from the free throw line as the Spartans answered the call whenever the Woolies would try to rally.
