Millbury Baseball Blasts Grafton 12-3

MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury boys baseball team beat Grafton 12-3 on Thursday afternoon at the Ferry St. Field in Grafton.

After spotting the Indians an early run, Millbury pitcher Luke Bernard settled in and pitched six complete allowing just the one run and striking out six. He also helped his own cause by swinging a big bat, going 3-4 with two RBIs.

Also shining for the Woolies was Justin Brousseau 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs and Mike Valastro doubled twice with 2 RBIs. With the win, Millbury broke its two game losing streak and evened their record at 2-2.

Tom Gannon for the Indians (0-6) pitched first innings, giving up eight runs. Lefty Matt Olsen entered in the fifth and was touched for four more runs. Gannon had a two run single for Grafton.

With the big lead at 12-1, coach Ron Silvestri cleared his bench and allowed most of the players to get some time in. Tom Rudge gave up two runs in the seventh and final inning.

With spring break upcoming this week, the Woolies are off until next Monday when they face Oxford in their home opener.

Grafton plays during spring break, traveling to Oxford for an 11 a.m. start.
