MILLBURY, Mass. - The Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School Music Department put on a Spring Band Concert in front of a packed house Thursday evening at the Millbury High Auditorium.
The show, conducted and directed by Jim Rollins, consisted of four different acts, the Wind Ensemble, the Jazz Ensemble, the Beginner Band and the Concert Band.
The Wind Ensemble got things off to a quick start with the National Anthem, America the Beautiful and Take Me Out to the Ballgame which had everyone in the audience singing along.
The Jazz Ensemble played Blues Machine and Sax in the City with a nice solo by William Kirk on the alto saxophone. The Beginner Band had numerous soloists, duets and trios between musical numbers and got great crowd reaction from their selections including Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Hard Rock Blues.
The Concert Band also highlighted a number of students between numbers and put together three very good numbers with the Procession of Heroes, Construction Zone and Queen's We Will Rock You.
