MILLBURY, Mass. — With schools in Millbury closing last week for the summer, Raymond Shaw School held a presentation inside its gymnasium to recognize the students of the month for June and to honor the outstanding students of the year.

Each homeroom teacher picked one student from his or her class. The homeroom teachers and the student they selected are listed below.

The sixth-graders were greeted with cheers from students in the other grades. They were then treated to a slideshow of the highlights of the year, including their trip to Camp Bournedale.

Andrew Hall, assistant principal at Millbury Junior High School, told the sixth-graders what to expect and what will be expected of them upon entering seventh grade at Millbury Junior/Senior High School.

The students also got a rare treat. Shaw teacher Mrs. Compton has a daughter who works in the front office for the Boston Bruins. And she had a Stanley Cup ring with more than 300 diamonds that was issued to the players, coaches and front office staff for the kids to see and touch.
