Millbury High's Freshman Academy Honors Outstanding Students

MILLBURY, Mass. ‒ The Freshman Academy at Millbury High School held its Term 1 Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Students were recognized for Character, Outstanding Effort and Term 1 Honor Roll.

Three students selected for the Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Academy this year were also honored. They are Erica Lawson, Antonio Venturim and Ben Dedinas.

Students being recognized were called to the stage in the auditorium by Principal Mandy Vasil, who gave them Award Certificates to cheers from teachers, parents and peers.

Vasil urged the students to always do their best and choose challenging courses. She also noted that there were a large number of freshman who achieved highest honors during first term.

Teachers selected students for Character Awards based their on going "above and beyond" in class, role-modeling excellent behavior and being helpful, polite, mature, respectful and responsible.

Students who received Character Awards were: Ryan Erickson, Luke Gardner, Alexandra Pitcher, Karleen Shorette, Keryn Reno, Austin Hartshorn and Ryan Ward.
