William P. Connor

MILLBURY, Mass. – William P. Connor of Millbury died Jan. 7 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Worcester. He was 87.

He was born in Worcester to Francis L. and Gladys Turner Connor. He attended Worcester Boys Trade High School and spent most of his life in Millbury. He most recently lived at the Woods at Eddy Pond in Auburn.

Connor worked at Vellumoid Co. before becoming a court officer at the Worcester Courthouse for 30 years before retiring. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member of the Charles F. Minney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Millbury. He enjoyed playing golf and cards at Clearview Country Club in Millbury.

Connor is survived by a brother, David (Kathy) Connor, of Fitchburg; four sisters, Irene Elizabeth Sullivan, of Connecticut, and Gladys Mae Gervais, Dorothy Wamback and Jean Gertrude Gagnon, all of Worcester; his legal guardians, Thomas J. Fox Jr., of Millbury, and Ashley R. Fox (Anthony) Frustaci, of Worcester. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Robert and Harold Connor.

Visitation is 8 to 9 a.m. Friday at Mulhane Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Brigid Church in Millbury. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Millbury. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472, or the American Diabetes Association, One Bromfield St., Boston, MA 02108.
