James Moroney, 86, Millbury World War II Veteran

MILLBURY, Mass. – James Eugene Moroney of Millbury died Feb. 3 at his home. He was 86.

Born Aug. 8, 1926, Moroney attended Worcester Trade School. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific. After his military service, he built houses with his father as co-owner of George Moroney Sr. and Son.

Moroney later served as vice president of Package Building Systems and Package Builders Inc. for many years before retiring in 1992. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Brigid’s Parish in Millbury. 

Moroney is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marguerite Mary O'Leary Moroney, of Millbury; two children, the Rev. James Patrick Moroney, of Brighton, Mass., and Deborah Ann Moroney Galanos, of North Brookfield, Mass.; and two grandchildren.

A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home in Worcester .A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m,. Tuesday, at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
