MILLBURY, Mass. – Craig L. Magnuson of Millbury died Jan. 20 from complications of a prolonged battle with lung cancer. He was 64.
Magnuson was an Eagle Scout in Troop 109 in Millbury. He graduated from Worcester Junior College and Nichols College. After serving in the Coast Guard, he worked for the Massachusetts Hospital Association.
He then worked at Anglo Fabrics and A&M Engineered Products as personnel manager before becoming a compliance officer for the U S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He retired in 2010.
Magnuson enjoyed traveling with his wife, golf, campfires and boat rides and his grandchildren. His family said that he had a special place in his heart for the times he spent rebuilding his 1966 GTO with his son, Jeff.
Magnuson is survived by his wife, Lise M. Belisle Magnuson; his mother, Evelyn Anderson Magnuson-Reed, of Sutton, Mass.; a son, Jeffrey (Jill) Magnuson, of Sutton; a daughter, Wendy (Benjamin Pearson) Kendrick, of Webster, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Julie Sullivan (Stephen) Melito, of Salem, N.H.; a stepson, Michael (Jennifer Paquette) Sullivan, of Worcester; a sister, Janet (Thomas) Clawson, of Millbury; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter L. Magnuson Jr.; and his stepfather, John G. Reed.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Brigid Church in Millbury. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mulhane Funeral Home in Millbury. Burial will be at West Millbury Cemetery.
