MILLBURY, Mass. - James F. O'Donnell, Jr., died Friday, May 4, 2012 at the St. Francis Rehab and Nursing Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette M. (Deslaurier) O'Donnell.
He leaves many nieces and nephews, including Pauline D. Bellino, Susan J. Jacques, Diane M. Novak, and Phyllis A. Nault, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Worcester, the son of James F. O'Donnell, Sr. and Delia A. (White) O'Donnell. He worked as a draftsman for a locally-based company in Shrewsbury and at Worcester-based Come Play Products Company. Mr. O'Donnell was very active in The Worcester Chapter of the Indoor Sports Club. He belonged to the Mass. Association of Paraplegics and the American Assoc. of Retired Persons.
Jim's "special" hobby throughout his life was building and flying remote-controlled airplanes in the Worcester area. Since he was a young boy and continuing through adulthood, he always went to air shows in New England. During his married years, with his wife Jeanette, they travelled and vacationed extensively in New England. They loved to visit beach resorts in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. in Worcester. Family will receive those wishing to pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, prior to the Mass. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
Mulhane Home for Funerals, in Millbury is assisting the family with the arrangements.
