We will be publishing candidate announcements during the election season. Each candidate will be allowed one announcement.

State Sen. Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) has officially kicked off his re-election campaign to represent the Second Worcester District in the State Senate. He has served in the Senate since 2008.

“Despite the challenges we’ve faced over the last four years, I’m proud of the work I’ve done on behalf of my constituents and the Commonwealth as a whole,” Moore told a crowd of over 200 supporters. “My goal has always been to listen to the citizens of this district and represent their best interests, and I think we’ve made great progress.”

Moore cited some of the issues he’s spearheaded over his last two terms, including: campaign finance, ethics, and public bidding reform; improving access to public higher education; delivering local aid and Chapter 70 to area school districts; passing a comprehensive veterans benefits bill; streamlining health care payment system; expanding small business growth through tax relief; and improving public safety by making CORI information more readily available.

“The people of this district deserve a senator who not only understands the difficulties that middle class families face every day, but has the results that matter," he said. "I’ve been at the forefront of employment, job growth, and economic development issues, doing everything I can to protect and advocate for the people of the Second Worcester District.”

Throughout his four year legislative service, Moore has been recognized with Outstanding Legislative Achievement awards by: MA Nurses Association, Worcester County Bar Association, MA Coalition of Police, Worcester Chamber of Commerce, MA Police Association, and the MA Day Care and Early Education Association.

An active participant in both legislative and community-based organizations, Senator Moore is a member of Auburn Youth and Family Services, Auburn Webster Elks, Worcester Eagles Club, Sons of the American Legion Vernon Hill Post, Shrewsbury Knights of Columbus, Worcester Public Library Foundation, as well as Council of State Governments Eastern Trade Council, Worcester State University Nursing School Advisory Board, and Worcester Community Action Council, among others.

The Second Worcester District includes Shrewsbury, Grafton, Millbury, Leicester, Auburn, Upton, Worcester (Wards 5-7, Ward 8 precincts 1 and 5), and Northbridge (Wards 2 and 4).

You know that picture does not have a black person in it!
It's great to be a democrat and then ignore Worcester South.
As a republican, I would not get a lot of votes from Worcester South.
It's kind of pitiful our political process.
