MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury Police Department will soon be appointing a provisional sergeant to take the position most recently held by newly-appointed Police Chief Mark Moore.
According to Moore, the new sergeant's position will go down the list of seniority and interested patrolmen will have the opportunity to acknowledge that they'd like the job first.
They'd have to study for the Civil Service Sergeant's Exam before any appointment can be made permanent.
The position does come with its drawbacks however. Moore joked that it won't be an easy position to fill. "The position is a different shift," he said. "The sergeant would come in at midnight, and its never been a popular shift."
