MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury Redevelopment Authority has been working on a project to upgrade lower town common on Elm Street with a four dial Howard post clock replica and some park benches.
The clock will beautify the area and serve as a silent sentinel for many years to come, town officials said. The Wall Street Journal published an article noting that clocks such as this are making a comeback in towns across the United States.
Since the Millbury Redevelopment Authority (MRA) is not funded by taxpayer dollars, the project will be made possible only through the contributions and generosity of businesses, builders and developers as well as organizations and residents.
Recently taking their message to the airwaves, Redevelopment Authority member Len Mort filmed a public service announcement on Millbury Public Access television showing the clock and how it will look in the downtown area via artists rendition.
Residents interested in donating can drop off a donation with the Town Clerk at City Hall or mail to Millbury Redevelopment Authority, Municipal Office Building, 127 Elm St., Millbury, MA 01527.
