MILLBURY, Mass.- Rumors that Millbury High School Principal Chuck Brown is leaving have been confirmed. He informed the staff of Millbury High on Friday that he is leaving for another school district.
Speaking with Brown at the Jr. High School Play at the Millbury High Audiorium, Brown confirmed that he indeed is leaving, but by his own accord. He stated that his departure will take place on July 1 but little else, "yes I am leaving" he said. "I've taken a job with another school district but it hasn't been announced yet."
Rumors of his leaving or being fired have been dogging him for over a month, theDailyMillbury.com has a copy of a letter that nearly 50 school teachers from the high school signed in support of Brown that lends credence that he was indeed perhaps under fire but no details were forthcoming.
Schools Superintendent Susan Hitchcock at the end of last week's School Committee meeting refused to discuss any personnel issues stating that school employees are entiltled to their privacy.
Attempts to reach School Committee Chairwoman Jennifer Nietupski were unsuccessful. Brown's departure will mean that Millbury will now have had 5 High School principals in as many years.
