MILLBURY, Mass. — The Super Bowl is Sunday, and even though the New England Patriots won’t be returning this season, the parties for the big game are always a big draw. And the biggest Super Bowl party in Millbury will be at the Elm Draught House starting at 4 p.m.
The Elm Draught House, 35 Elm St., is a Millbury landmark known as a movie house, but on Sundays during football season, it is a great place to watch football. Like watching the big game on the big screen? There aren’t any bigger than the 28-foot-by-15-foot screen in the Elm.
With a nice blend of sandwiches, pizza, popcorn and nachos as well as snacks and candy, there is always plenty to munch on during the game. A large selection of soft drinks, beer, wine and wine coolers, and draft beer is also available.
The “cinepub” has removed every third seat so that everyone has a built-in tray to place food and drinks. Owner Jimmy Perry is expecting a large crowd with or without the Patriots in the game.
“It would be crazy if the Pats were in it,” he said recently outside the cinema. “We’ll still have a lot of people here who like to party and not have to worry about preparing anything or cleaning up after a Super Bowl party. With the big screen, there are no bad seats to watch the game.”
The Elm will open about 4 p.m. and then the pregame festivities will start. The only better thing on Sunday would be to see a “Gronk smash” in the end zone.
