MILLBURY, Mass.- The local elections are upon the town of Millbury today and residents are faced with some choices as they hold the power to influence how the town will be run.
Unfortunately, its a power that is frequently under-used as voter turn-out for local elections is never as high as during national elections. But in local elections, residents have a much larger say in how their town and ultimately their tax dollars are spent.
Three candidates are facing off for the Board of Selectmen for two open seats. Francis B. King is running for re-election for the board and is being contested by Sandra J. Cristo and Frank V. Irr.
For the Planning Board with two open seats, Paul A. Piktelis and Gary J. Schold are running for re-election, also running is Alan Linkevich.
The Board of Health has Armand O. White running for re-election against William C. Wilkinson.
This past weekend, the town center at the intersection of Main and Elm streets had a lot of the candidates and supporters out holding signs as heavier than normal Saturday traffic provided a perfect backdrop.
The candidates were attempting to get the last weekend's worth of campaigning in prior to the election. So Millbury voters....get out and exercise your votes. It is important to get your voices heard.

Voted this morning, Walked in behind a Millbury High student who was telling his friend that he is related to Obama. So at least we have that going for us. Hoping for a good turnout, get out and vote.
