MILLBURY, Mass. - Millbury Fire Chief Matt Belsito has accepted the full-time position of fire chief in Sutton. The official announcement is expected to be made Tuesday evening in Sutton.
Belsito was one of 37 applicants for the position. He was notified on Monday that he was Sutton's choice. He informed the town of Millbury of his plans and will be leaving soon.
"This is a dream opportunity come true," Belsito said on Monday. "I just informed the department here this evening. And hey, I'll just be down the road. If there's a fire here, you'll still see me."
Belsito said the process to replace him will take about a month. With Belsito's notice, and the recent retirement of Jeff Dore, there are a couple of open positions at the top of the chain of command in Millbury's Fire Department.

It is a loss for Millbury but a great gain for Sutton. Hard to fault Matt for wanting a full-time Chiefs gig. Wish the town could have kept him here
This is a great loss for our town!
