MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury Veterans Council along with Boy Scout Troops 109 and 110 and some patriotic residents on Saturday morning placed flags at all the veterans graves in Central and St. Brigid's Cemeteries.
Other veterans and residents were also busy placing flags at the other cemeteries in town as one of the traditions of spring is to place all flags on veterans graves before Memorial Day and leave them in place until after Veterans Day for the winter.
The flags are a way of remembering our veterans who served in times of war and peace to keep our nation free, especially the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Millbury Veterans Council Commander George Murphy thanked all the residents and scouts for their patriotism and great help on Saturday morning. "On behalf of the Millbury Veterans Council, thanks again for your support" Murphy said. "Without your help, it would be much more difficult for us to accomplish this and its nice to see all of you out here this morning.
The veterans in town will be visiting the town's schools for Memorial Day Activities in the upcoming weeks. Details will be posted soon and all honorably discharged veterans of all services are welcome to attend.
