MILLBURY, Mass. — Millbury’s Alyssa Duffy is once again getting a chance few others ever have when she sings with Kenny Rogers on stage at Foxwoods in Connecticut.
This is the fourth year that Alyssa has gotten the honor of singing with Rogers, who is scheduled to appear for two nights at the Foxwoods/MGM resort Dec. 21-22.
The really amazing part is Alyssa is just 10 years old.
She tried out and was accepted to sing with Rogers after hearing about the competition through the Karon Shea Modeling agency when she was 5. The fifth-grader, who goes to Shaw Elementary, loves to sing and act and hopes to one day act for a living.
Alyssa was a little nervous talking about herself Sunday afternoon at her family home, nerves her mother, Deanna, said disappear when she walks on stage. But Alyssa has other interests as well. She’s involved in cheerleading in Millbury, and loves to bowl.
"Lyssa," as she’s known to friends and family, will sing with five other children and loves appearing with Rogers.
“He likes for us to sit in his lap like Santa,” she said. On show night, the children will arrive about three hours early for a last-minute rehearsal and will sing a few songs with Rogers.
She said “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” is her favorite song to sing with the country-pop legend, but any tunes will be fun, she added.
Unfortunately, the competition that she entered has a cut-off age of 10, so this will be her last appearance with Rogers, at least in this venue.
Alyssa and her mom promised to share some of their pictures and experiences from Foxwoods with The Daily Voice so check back later and we’ll get her impressions of her concert dates with Rogers.

She better know when to "Hold em" and know when to "Fold em".
