MILLBURY, Mass. — If visiting old buildings is your thing, you'll get your chance this weekend when the Millbury Bicentennial Committee offers tours of sites dating back to the town's earliest days as part of the Bicentennial Celebration. This Saturday, Aug. 11 there will be a tour of some of the sites in West Millbury.
Led by members of the Historical Society, the tour runs from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be three mini-buses from the Council on Aging to shuttle residents from the Elmwood Street School starting at 9 a.m. The part of West Millbury bordering Sutton holds some of the oldest areas in town, including the Grasshill School, the West Millbury Chapel, the Ramshorn Pond area and more.
Seating is limited to 40 persons and reservations are required. Call Joyce at Millbury Town Hall at 508-865-4710 to reserve a seat.
There will be more tours during the coming months as well as other bicentennial events. Tours are scheduled for Sept. 8, Nov. 9, and, in 2013, March 9, April 13, May 11 and June 8.
