MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury Senior Center was packed with 150 of the town’s seniors Thursday evening as the Millbury Lions Club, in coordination with the Council on Aging, held its annual dinner for Millbury senior citizens.

The cafeteria was filled to capacity, and Lions Club members were working hard in the kitchen to serve meals to everyone in attendance.

Town Manager Bob Spain, a longtime Lions Club member, and Joe Coggans, a charter member as well as a candidate for the Board of Selectmen this April, were also doing their turn by carrying trays of meals for the seniors.

Senior Center Director Judy O’Connor was thrilled with the turnout. “This is always one of our highlights of the year. The Lions Club has always put out a fantastic meal for our seniors, which is why we ask for them to make reservations,” she said.

O’Connor spent some time chatting with Spain and Coggans, as well as greeting many of the seniors at the tables. The meal was a delicious-smelling turkey dinner with all the fixings - a big hit with the crowd.

Music was supplied by Noel Clifford, a well-known Irish singer who plays guitar; he entertained the crowd with a mixture of pop, Irish favorites and classics.
