MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury High School Drama Club and Music Department will be performing the Mel Brooks classic, “Young Frankenstein,” beginning Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
The play is directed by Tom Reilly and the music and dance numbers are being directed by Dan Ferreira and Ryan Sullivan.
The student actors and production crew have been hard at work getting the show ready to go for opening night.
The story centers around Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, who insists his name be pronounced "Fronkensteen" and that he is not a madman, but a scientist.
After his grandfather, Viktor, who created “the monster,” dies in Transylvania in 1934, Frankenstein travels there to settle his grandfather’s estate. Before long, he has met Igor; Inga, his lab assistant; and Frau Blϋcher, whose very name, when spoken, causes the horses to startle.
Igor convinces Fredrick to continue his grandfather’s work, and that is when the fun really begins. The play is based on the 1974 hit film and 2007 Broadway production.
Show times are Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults; $6 for students/seniors. Tickets are available in advance at the high school office, or on the day of show.
