MILLBURY, Mass. — Town meetings, library events and some local sports highlight this week’s happening in town. Visit our events listings for more to do.

Monday, Jan. 21

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Tuesday, Jan. 22 

Tai Chi: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Cost is $2 per class. Consider joining for a “Healthy Mind and Body Balance." Millbury Senior Center.

Messy Fingers: 10:30 a.m. at the Millbury Public Library. Messy Fingers is a hands-on, minds-on science program for pre-schoolers and their parents. This week’s presentation - Balls.

Yoga Class: 1 p.m. a the Millbury Senior Center. All are welcome

Computer Class: 3-4 p.m. Learn basic computer skills and find out about social networking, email and more. The instructors will teach residents how to navigate their cellphones and what options are available. Reservations are required by calling 508-865-9247. Millbury Senior Center.

Boys'/Girls' Varsity Basketball: 7 p.m. The Millbury Woolies boys' basketball team has a home game against Southbridge while the girls' team will travel to Southbridge.

Board of Selectmen: In the large conference room, Millbury Town Hall at 7 p.m. The selectmen will have their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the agenda items are the ratification of the new Police Chief’s contract, the signing of the Utility Credit Purchase Agreement and an appointment to the Butler Farm Re-Use Committee.

Wednesday, Jan. 23 

Storytime: 10:30 a.m. at the Millbury Public Library. For ages 2 and older. No registration is required.

Millbury School Committee: The committee has its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in the Media Center at Millbury High School.

Thursday, Jan. 24

Storytime: 10:30 a.m. at the Millbury Public Library. For ages 2 and older. No registration is required.

Veterans Agent: 6:30-8 p.m. The veterans agent is on hand every Tuesday and Thursday evening to answer all veteran-related questions at Millbury Town Hall.

Town Open House: Millbury will have an open house at the Asa Waters Mansion at 7 p.m. for a meet and greet with Millbury’s new police chief, Ken Howell.

Girls' Varsity Basketball: 7 p.m. The Millbury Woolies basketball team has a home, non-conference game against Tantasqua High School.

Millbury Veterans Council: The Veterans Council will have a meeting to nominate new officers for 2013 at 7 p.m. in the large conference room at Millbury Town Hall. All honorably discharged veterans are welcomed and encouraged to join. There are no dues to be a member.
