Norwalk Youth Charged in Pizza Robbery

NORWALK, Conn. – A second Norwalk youth has been arrested in the October robbery of a pizza delivery man, Norwalk police say. Shaquille Johnson, 18, of 133 Monterey Place, was arrested on a warrant in the basement of Norwalk Superior Court on Monday. He was brought there from the Manson Youth Institute to have the warrant served, Officer Carleton Giles said.

A Speedy Pizza delivery driver went to Kossuth Street on Oct. 20 and was confronted by two black men wearing dark clothing, one of whom had a stocking over his face, Giles said. The driver was punched in the mouth. He threw his pizza bag and fled to Speedy Pizza, where he was treated for a cut on the lip. No weapon was displayed in the attack.

Shaquille Johnson is the third arrest in the case. Police say Michael Johnson, 27, of 36 Soundview Ave., made the phone call that brought the driver to the scene. A 17-year-old has also been charged.

Shaquille Johnson was charged with two counts of sixth-degree larceny and two counts of second-degree robbery. Bond was set at $50,000.

Also on the police blotter:

• A 48-year-old dog walker was bit on the face by a spayed female German shepherd Monday and needed stitches, Officer Carleton Giles said. The woman had taken the dog for a walk and bent down to say goodbye after taking off the dog's leash. She needed stitches on the center of her lip and the right side of her nose.

The dog, whose name is Kerry and lives on Aiken Street, is on a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
