WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains police said two drivers caught dozing behind the wheel were charged with driving while intoxicated this Super Bowl Sunday.
Police said a Port Chester man whose licensed had been revoked for a previous drunk driving offense was caught sleeping off a few drinks in a car parked near the corner of S. Broadway and Maple Avenue.
Officers said they awoke Cesar Piaz, 23, and helped him out of the car at about 3:35 a.m. Piaz threw up several times as officers supported him and attempted to read him his required warnings, according to police, who said he requested to go home instead of cooperating.
A license check revealed that Piaz's license was revoked in May after he was charged with driving while intoxicated in Port Chester, according to police reports.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, refusing a breath test, a misdemeanor, and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, before being rushed to the White Plains Hospital in an ambulance.
Approximately 25 minutes later, a cab driver told police there was a man sleeping in a Volkswagen Jetta parked at the intersection of Tarrytown Road and Central Avenue.
Police said they found Richard Young, 33, covered in vomit and had to pull him out of the car to rouse him.
Young agreed to have his blood alcohol level tested at the White Plains Hospital, however, he then refused to take the test because he was afraid of needles, according to police reports.
He was arrested and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
