Kids Name Stamford Museum's Pigs

STAMFORD, Conn. – So after remaining nameless for almost a month, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center’s two little guinea pigs have finally been named. They will now be known as Pippa and Lulu, a nature center press release said.

The museum received about 600 suggestions during the Harvest Festival held there Oct. 15-16, the release said. Sam Berkowitz, 11, and his mother, Elaine, of Stamford, suggested the name Pippa, and the name Lulu came from Marlayna Kasdan, 4, and her mom, Anita, of Norwalk, the release said.

“We received some great suggestions from our members and visitors and thank everyone for assisting us with names,” Victoria Marr, one of the managers of Heckscher Farm, said in the release. “We look forward to people coming to visit Lulu and Pippa. Maybe one day we’ll even receive a visit from the Duchess of Cambridge’s famous sister, Pippa Middleton.”

The two piglets came to the nature center on Sept. 28 from the Beardsley Zoo, where they were born in June, the release said. The winning families will receive free admission to Maple Sugar Weekend (March 3 & 4) and Spring on the Farm Weekend (May 19 & 20), the release said.
