GRAFTON, Mass. — Is Grafton ready for a sandwich that stands waist high?

The menu at the new Bushel 'N Peck Deli, which opened Monday where the old Branded Bear Deli once stood, boasts a 30-inch grinder that might be big enough to feed one adult-size Super Bowl fanatic.

The 47-year-old owner, Michael Bartosiewicz, said he is ready for the catering onslaught when hungry men and major sporting events collide.

"I studied accounting in college, but it wasn't for me," he said. Pastrami might run through his veins: Bartosiewicz started at a deli in high school and his father also worked in the restaurant business.

He worked at different delicatessens, then bought Bushel ‘N Peck eight years ago from his former boss. The new Grafton location is his third restaurant.

After 30 years in the business, Bartosiewicz said he knows how to feed Super Bowl partiers. Aside from the nearly 3-foot grinders, he predicts large orders of pizza, wings and his premade meals such as lasagna.

His chef, Michael Ashley, said he will offer a mix of standard fare such as a Friday fish fry but also some items not seen in the area, including fried macaroni and cheese, lobster corn chowder and a beef chili with his own secret seasonings.

The gluten-free choices were added to the menu after Bartosiewicz's wife was diagnosed with celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder. But he discovered that people without the disease sometimes prefer gluten-free food. “It’s a new craze,” he said. “People are doing it for health reasons.” Now Bartosiewicz offers it in his pizza dough, bread and marinara sauce, among other items.

The Bushel 'N Peck Deli is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is located at 8 Worcester St., Grafton, near the Common.

Salads Fresh - looked great Awesome fish and chips. All foods so fresh looking. Freindliest wait staff. Happy to be there even as busy as it was !! Welcome to Grafton.

Have been there a couple of times. No signs stating hours so made the mistake of going in too early. . Not open until 8am . When I asked the waitress about dark roast coffee "I don't know , that's what we make". That was a tad disappointing .

Regardless, here's to a new place in town. Hoping to see how things go once the little glitches are worked out . After all, wings on Super Bowl Sunday are always a hit.

Staff is friendly
Place looks great

Our family did take out last night and it was great! Portions are generous and quality was very good. Two of my kids had the burgers and they were great. Good luck to you! Thanks for coming to town.

Will be looking at Salads closely for bagged or freshly made. Maybe Grafton will have a place to go to finally. Hope to see a web site soon where the Daily Specials are posted.
